Sara Rue Interview: Reba’s ‘Malibu Country’ Co-Star Is Pregnant and Perky

Actress Sara Rue is currently starring alongside Reba McEntire and Lily Tomlin in the ABC comedy series, "Malibu Country," as Reba and family's friendly, if over-sharing, next-door neighbor, "trophy wife" Kim Sallinger. While Reba and the rest of the cast was waiting to find out if the series will get the order for a full season's worth of shows, Sara also awaits the birth of her first child early next year. The 33-year-old actress, who has been working at her craft since age 9, found time to chat by phone from L.A. with The Boot, sharing (just enough) about the closeness of the cast, being -- and playing -- pregnant while working on a TV show, and who Reba competes with, when it comes to Sara's favorite country singers.

What made you decide this was a show you wanted to be involved in?

The character is just so different from anything I've played before. That was so appealing to me, aside from the fact that the show was starring Reba and Lily Tomlin. I love playing [Kim] because she's someone who doesn't have a filter; you can get away with anything you want as an actor and it's totally legitimized immediately. [laughs] It was just a departure for me and that was exciting. Those of us who work a lot in TV, you get to playing the same sort of characters over and over again, which can be great, too. But it's been really fun for me to do something totally different than anything I've ever done before.

Uncle Kracker recently released his latest country-tinged CD, Midnight Special. The Detroit native has not only found a second home in country music, he's made some great friends as well, since teaming with Kenny Chesney on the smash duet "When the Sun Goes Down." He actually enlisted the help of an old buddy, Alan Jackson's producer Keith Stegall, for the new CD, and it seems the two share the exact same level of intensity -- or lack thereof -- when working on a project

"Stegall's awesome, we've been friends a long time," Kracker tells The Boot. "We've always threatened each other with working together. But on this record it just seemed appropriate. I felt like Keith could knock this one out of the park and he did. He's great. Keith's never not laid back -- he's all laid back, all the time. I love it though. That's why we get along so good!"

Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood Haiti Trip: Couple Build Homes for Families in Need

Garth Brooks and wife Trisha Yearwood like to get their hands dirty for a good cause. The pair, who first visited Haiti after the devastating 2010 earthquake, returned to the city of Leogane to participate in Habitat for Humanity's 29th annual Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project. The couple, along with nearly 600 volunteers, helped build 100 homes in the Santo community. Garth was shaken by his first trip to the country, which took place soon after the disaster.

"The main thing that I learned from Haiti this year, by driving through Port-au-Prince, that stuck with me is that with a few bad decisions, my own country could be in that shape in a few years," he said, referencing the corruption and massive poverty in the island nation. "We must always think of what's right and wrong, not what's Republican or Democrat. We must think of what is right or wrong; if we don't, then I don't think that anyone is immune from that happening to their own country."
