Craig Morgan Dog Sled Race Takes Singer to the Arctic Circle

How does a country singer prepare for a dog sled trip in the Arctic Circle? Grow a beard, of course. Craig Morgan has been invited to participate in Fjällräven Polar, a 200-mile, five-day dog sled race that starts in Sweden and crosses three countries in April.

"They didn't say, 'grow a beard,' but everyone I see on videos from previous trips has one," Craig tells The Boot. "They tell you what kind of clothing and attire to bring, and I'll take my own tools. They provide everyone with the outerwear -- the extreme cold weather jacket and pants, gloves and headgear. I've already got my goggles and the additional items, like an ax and knives."

One listen to Joel Crouse's debut single, "If You Want Some," and it's no wonder why the 20-year-old was tapped by Taylor Swift for an opening slot on her upcoming Red tour. The infectious tune, which the Massachusetts native co-wrote with songwriter Luke Laird and producer Jamie Houston, will have you singing along during your first listen. (Watch the lyric video below.)

"Luke, Jamie and I got together about a week after we had a get-together at our house for a writing session, and I just kept talking about what a party it had been," Joel tells The Boot. "'If You Want Some' is really just an invitation to party."

They are the first acts to be added to the lineup performing at "ACM Presents: Tim McGraw's Superstar Summer Night," which will be taped April 8 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The special, announced last month, will be broadcast at a later date on CBS.

"It's going to be about great music," Tim tells The Boot, explaining that the show will include both solo performances and some unique duets. "There will be some unexpected pairings, which I think will be the coolest thing about it. The show is sort of an introduction to what's going on in music this summer."
