Hunter had begun sketching out songs for his second album, but realized he still had some unfinished business with the first one—a bundle of songs that would never get to be heard.

Josh Turner Makes Young Autistic Musician’s Dream Come True on Grand Ole Opry Stage

Filed under:

This week, Josh Turner asked a 21-year-old autistic boy to join him on stage during a performance of his signature song 'Long Black Train' at the Grand Ole Opry. The singer describes Logan Blade as someone unable to hold a conversation, but when he starts to sing, it's a different story.

The video below begins with Turner describing how important the song is to him. Blade steps onto the stage midway through the 2003 hit from the album of the same name. He belts out the second verse on his own before Turner joins back in to help bring it home. The audience gives both men a standing ovation after the inspiring performance.

Justin Moore Says New Album Is His Most Diverse Project Yet

Although Justin Moore hasn’t announced a release date for his upcoming album, he’s excited to get it out to fans. According to him, the project features a wide spectrum of songs.

“There’s gonna be a lot of this new album that people go, ‘Ahh, that’s Justin. It’s what he does,’” Justin said. “But then there’s gonna be quite a few songs on this album that will surprise some people as well, which I’m excited about. It’s the most diverse album we’ve done.”

Justin feels like the album’s lead single, “Point At You,” is a good indicator of what fans can expect from the project. “It’s an example of blending those two worlds together to me perfectly,” he said. “It sounds like something we’ve put out but the subject matter is a love song.”

Billy Ray Cyrus on the Set

Billy Ray Cyrus was in front of the cameras this week outside Nashville, filming a new movie called, appropriately enough, Like a Country Song. Billy Ray visited with Country Weekly on the set of one of the locations, Kimbro's Cafe, in the historic town of Franklin, Tenn., to talk about the film and his character of a broken-down country singer, Bo Reeson.

"It's the ultimate story of redemption," Billy Ray tells Country Weekly. "I loved this story from the beginning."

The movie centers around Bo, his son Jake, played by Joel Smallbone of the Christian recording duo For King & Country, and some unexpected challenges in their lives. Young Jake's promising singing career is at a crossroads as his ego becomes inflated and an old flame re-enters the picture.

"What turned me on to this," Billy Ray says, "was the chance to do some real acting again."

Billy Ray has starred in several films, as well as the television shows Doc, 18 Wheels of Justice and the popular Disney series Hannah Montana with daughter Miley.

Billy Ray also sings the film's title song for the soundtrack. "It's a really great country song," Billy Ray says. "That is my roots. I'm a country music singer and it's great to be given that type of song to sing." Whether the song will be released as a single has not been determined at this point.

Like a Country Song features fellow artists Larry Gatlin and Deborah Allen in supporting roles. The film, slated for release later this year, makes use of several Music City hot spots, including The Listening Room Cafe, The Station Inn and other locales.

Katie Armiger’s little black dress was inducted into the Hard Rock Cafe’s Hard Rock Memorabilia Collection in Las Vegas on May 22. Katie wore the dress for a performance at the Grand Ole Opry in August 2012, the same night her “Better In A Black Dress” music video went to No. 1 on GAC’s Top 20 Country Countdown.

“I am a longtime fan of Hard Rock Cafe,” Katie said. “Ever since I was little girl I can remember visiting the restaurants around the country and admiring the eclectic array of memorabilia that graced the walls. Being asked to include one of my dresses to display alongside all of the superstars of music for thousands of people to see at such a well-respected franchise is such a great honor.”

Katie performed at the induction as part of an event hosted by 102.7 The Coyote. All proceeds went to the Children’s Miracle Network Radiothon. Watch her latest music video, “Playin’ With Fire,” HERE.
