Oak Ridge Boys’ William Lee Golden Marries Simone Staley

William Lee Golden of The Oak Ridge Boys tied the knot with painter Simone Staley at a ceremony in Nashville, Saturday, Aug. 29. The celebration was attended by William Lee’s Oak Ridge Boys mates Duane Allen, Joe Bonsall and Richard Sterban, along with family members and other friends.

The marriage culminated a storybook romance for William Lee and Simone, who first met in October of 1980 at a show at Knott’s Berry Farm in California. They felt an instant attraction but eventually went in separate directions and lost touch with one another.

But in May of 2009, they reignited their friendship and bonded over their mutual love of art. William Lee has achieved some renown for his paintings and photography, while Simone has continued her career in painting. In fact, William Lee has kept a portrait that Simone painted of him in the 1980s throughout the years. “I had always wondered if he held onto that painting,” Simone recently noted. “It was probably silly to do so, but I just felt very strongly about it after pouring my heart and soul into it.”

By the summer of 2013, William Lee and Simone spent more time with one another, traveling and getting to know each other. “It’s been the most beautiful experience, together,” William Lee said.

NASH Country Weekly sends our congratulations and best wishes to the happy couple.

When Waylon Jennings sang “Luckenbach, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love)” back in the late ‘70s, it wasn’t about dogs at all.
